Estimates offered through phone, online forms, and email are complimentary. However, for an estimate conducted in person through an on-site inspection, there is a trip charge, the amount of which depends on the property’s location (minimum $120). Please note that this charge is non-refundable.
We bill based on hours, not on the entire job. When providing estimates, we offer a projection for the complete project, emphasizing that it’s only an estimate. You will only be billed for the time spent on the job and the materials used. Unlike many other companies, On Call Handyman/Fenwick Handyman Services offers guidance on purchasing materials, assisting you in creating a shopping list. This way, you can procure the necessary materials yourself, avoiding charges for shopping time or any markup on warranties or supplies required for your project. Charging according to actual time at the project’s conclusion can benefit clients in several ways:
Accuracy: Clients pay only for the actual time expended on their project, avoiding overpayment for estimated hours that may not accurately reflect the effort required.
Transparency: Clients gain a clear understanding of how their funds are utilized, as they receive a detailed breakdown of time allocation across different tasks.
Flexibility: Clients retain the freedom to adjust the project scope as needed throughout its progression, without being tied to a fixed price.
Incentive for Efficiency: Service providers are motivated to work efficiently and promptly complete the project, knowing that they are compensated solely for the time invested.
Fairness: Clients perceive the billing system as fair, as they are not charged for unforeseen delays or inefficiencies on the service provider’s part.
Customization: Charging based on actual time enables a more tailored approach, allowing clients to prioritize tasks according to their budget and timeline.

Currently, we do have some weekends availability. However, please note that we are not available on major holidays such as Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, and others (please consult Google for any specific dates when we will be closed).
Preferred payment methods include cash, Zelle, and Venmo. However, we also accept credit cards with a 3% card processing fee added to all projects.
Regrettably, payment for services rendered is required on the day the project is finished. We do not accommodate NET15, 30, or 45 terms, nor do we tolerate any outstanding invoices.
We are covered by a comprehensive general liability policy, providing protection for your property in the event of unforeseen accidents. Our handymen are also covered by insurance while performing duties at job sites. Furthermore, our plumber holds full insurance coverage and licensure granted by the state of Illinois.
This arrangement is subject to individual circumstances. Both parties, our clients and ourselves, must have confidence for work to proceed without clients present on the premises. Although not mandatory, we prefer to have an individual present at the property who is at least 18 years old. However, clients have the option to arrange access for us and to secure the property upon our departure. In situations where clients are located out-of-state, we can provide photographs of the completed work, which will be emailed along with the invoice. Rest assured, your property will be treated with the utmost respect and care. Our only requirement is that clients ensure arrangements for payment, especially if paying by cash, or we can send an invoice via email (due upon receipt) using our preferred payment method.
**Deposit Requirement:**
A deposit of $120 is required to secure your appointment.
**Down Payment for Jobs Over $1000:**
For projects estimated to exceed $1000, a 35% down payment of the labor is necessary, excluding materials and supplies. Clients are responsible for prepaying or purchasing materials and supplies before the job begins. The remaining balance is due upon completion. Credit card payments will be subject to a 3% service fee, included in the final invoice, which is waived for payments made via Zelle or Venmo.
**Payment Instructions:**
Payments can be made via Zelle or Venmo. Please contact us for instruction. Credit card payments will incur a 3% service fee (scroll to the bottom of your estimate or invoice click “View and Pay Invoice”, follow the prompt. Edit the amount and make the payment or pay in full the amount on the invoice.
**Cancellation Policy:**
Refunds for cancellations:
- Cancellations with 48 hours or more notice: Full refund, excluding any fees incurred for returning supplies.
- On Call Handyman/Fenwick Handyman is not liable for the loss of non-refundable supplies and materials resulting from cancellation. A delivery fee to return materials and supplies will be charged at 1 hour’s rate of $120 per person.
Labor Guarantee: Labor services are guaranteed for 30 days. Parts are subject to the manufacturer’s warranty and are not covered under On Call Handyman/Fenwick Handyman’s warranty. Please ensure to register the manufacturer’s warranty if applicable.
